dkmusicstudio Fiddle/Violin Lessons

Studio Policy

Designed for players of all levels and for all ages. Styles include contest fiddle, swing, jazz, blues, Celtic/Irish, and classical. Lessons will be tailored to meet your needs. The majority of players I teach learn a combination of the above. Fiddle is mainly taught by ear and through the use of tab. Classical Violin is taught using the Suzuki Method.

30, 45, 60, or 90 minute lessons available.

You will learn:

Loose flowing bow arm that uses the wrist, hand, and fingers that produces a clear and powerful tone. A smooth shifting left hand that minimizes movement to maximize efficiency and speed and carries a dynamic vibrato that can transform to fit into any musical style all while being guided by an ear that is trained to hear at the highest level of intonation.
Understanding of the backbeat and the importance of rhythmic playing, improvisation (see music theory), how to play over chords, bowing techniques, fiddle bowings, and how to perform in different settings.
